Delhi fire department reports record emergency calls during Diwali celebrations
Delhi's fire department reported a record number of emergency calls during Diwali this year, with 318 calls received, surpassing the previous high of 290 in 2015. This marks a significant increase from 208 calls last year. Of the total calls, 280 were related to fire incidents, with 144 occurring between midnight and 6 a.m. on Friday. The data shows that this year's calls more than doubled compared to 2021. The fire department had deployed fire tenders and motorcycle-borne firefighters across the city to respond quickly to incidents. They are currently gathering information on any casualties from the fires.
