Delhi introduces scanning devices at petrol pumps for PUC
The Delhi government has launched new scanning devices at petrol pumps. These devices will help identify vehicles that do not have valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. This move comes as part of a new rule that will stop vehicles older than 15 years from refuelling starting April 1. These scanning devices are equipped with cameras. They will check every vehicle that enters a petrol pump. If a vehicle does not have a valid PUC certificate, it will be flagged, and an alert will sound. The devices will also record the vehicle's age and PUC status in a central system. This new initiative aims to enforce the government's directive more effectively. A PUC certificate is required for all vehicles in India. It shows that a vehicle meets pollution control standards. To get this certificate, vehicle owners must visit an authorized testing center.
