The Delhi government has proposed that every third private car in households must be electric. This proposal has been approved by the transport minister and will be presented to the cabinet for further approval. Starting August 2025, no fossil fuel-run three-wheelers will be registered in Delhi. Non-electric two-wheelers will also face registration restrictions beginning August 2026. Additionally, petrol, diesel, or CNG two-wheelers will not be allowed to register from August 2026. Older CNG autorickshaws will need to be retrofitted or replaced with electric versions.
