Delhi Metro Phase 4 improves transport for NCR commuters
The Delhi Metro Phase 4 is an expansion of the metro system designed to help thousands of commuters in Delhi and the National Capital Region. This project aims to offer a more affordable and convenient transport option. The new metro lines are expected to ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution. By providing better public transport, it could remove many cars from the roads. Currently, three priority corridors are under construction. They include the Golden Line, which stretches 23.62 kilometers from Aerocity to Tughlakabad; the Magenta Line Extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram at 28.92 kilometers; and the Pink Line Extension from Mukundpur to Maujpur, covering 12.56 kilometers. In total, the Delhi Metro Phase 4 will have a length of 103.93 kilometers and six lines, with 45 stations designated for priority corridors. The budget for this project is approximately ₹24,948.65 crores. Some of the approved corridors include Aerocity to Tughlakabad with 15 stations, Mukundpur to Maujpur with 8 stations, and Janakpuri West to RK Ashram with 22 stations. Two additional lines, Noida Sector-62 to Sahibabad and Vaishali to Mohan Nagar, are still awaiting approval. The list of stations along these corridors features several key areas, making it easier for residents to travel across the city. The project promises to enhance the overall commuting experience for many people in the region.
