Delhi-NCR air quality nears severe levels with average AQI at 362
Air quality in Delhi-NCR is deteriorating, with the average Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 362 on Thursday. Several areas reported AQI levels above 400, indicating 'severe' pollution, including Anand Vihar at 422 and Jahangirpuri at 431. Despite some wind, air quality showed little improvement. Nearby regions in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also reported poor AQI levels between 252 and 313. Visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport decreased to 1,800 meters. In response to rising pollution, the Delhi government launched a month-long anti-open burning campaign on November 6. A new 21-point Winter Action Plan has been introduced, expanding last year's measures to include stricter enforcement and pollution control initiatives.
