Delhi opens adult vaccination clinic for preventive health

Delhi's Health Minister Pankaj Singh highlighted the importance of adult vaccination during the inauguration of a new clinic at Fortis Escorts Hospital. He stated that vaccination is not just for children and urged the need for adults, especially those with existing health conditions, to be protected against preventable diseases. The clinic will provide various vaccines for adults, including those for influenza, pneumonia, hepatitis, tetanus, and shingles. Singh emphasized that adult vaccination is crucial in preventing severe illnesses, particularly for senior citizens and those with chronic conditions. RS Mishra, the principal director of internal medicine at the hospital, echoed Singh's sentiments. He noted that while childhood vaccinations are widely acknowledged, adult vaccination is often neglected. The new clinic is aimed at addressing this issue and improving public health outcomes. Vikram Aggarwal, the facility director, said the clinic reflects their commitment to preventive health care. He stated that by making vaccines more accessible, they are not only treating diseases but also preventing them, which enhances the community's quality of life. The center will ensure proper storage and handling of vaccines. Patients will be advised on which vaccines to receive following an evaluation of their medical history and current health status. This initiative aims to foster a health-conscious environment and promote the benefits of vaccination within the community.
