The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has finalized plans to restore the old Town Hall complex in Chandni Chowk, turning it into a municipal museum. The project will cost ₹4.5 crore and is based on designs from the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. MCD will soon invite proposals from agencies to carry out the restoration, which includes civil and electrical work. The project aims to preserve the heritage structure using original materials and is expected to take around six months once an agency is selected. Additionally, MCD has partnered with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts to digitize and preserve historical documents from the Old Press Building. So far, 40% of these documents have been restored, with plans for the museum to showcase various historical artifacts and printing equipment.
