Delhi Police have arrested four people linked to a syndicate involved in the illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals into India. The arrests included three Bangladeshi immigrants and one Indian facilitator. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police revealed that the operation mainly trafficked Bangladeshi nationals through Assam, providing them with false identity documents. This allowed them to settle undetected in Delhi and its nearby areas. The main suspect, Mohd Iqbal Hossain, also known as Farhan Khan, was caught in the Nehru Place area with two passports—one from Bangladesh and one illegally acquired from India. In addition to Hossain, two other Bangladeshi nationals, Razeeb Miyan and Md Momin Badsha, were arrested at the Badarpur Border. An Indian man named Agrasen Kumar was also taken into custody for issuing Aadhaar cards to the immigrants using fake information. The police found a wide range of incriminating evidence, including multiple Aadhaar cards, fake identification documents, and mobile phones. Hossain, originally from Bangladesh, entered India in 2017 and started a garment business. Despite his marriage in Bangladesh, he fraudulently married an Indian woman in 2018, pretending to be a citizen of India. He was previously arrested in 2020 for selling illegal SIM cards and was known to travel to Bangladesh on an Indian passport. The Crime Branch had been monitoring the syndicate for several months, focusing on the garment trade markets. Raids were conducted at several locations, leading to these arrests. Investigations are ongoing, and further actions are expected to target more individuals involved in the trafficking network, with charges filed under various laws related to immigration and document forgery.
