Delhi police arrest suspect in elderly couple’s murder
Delhi police arrested a man named Ravi on Wednesday in connection with the murder of an elderly couple. Mohinder Singh and Diljeet Kaur, both 70 years old, were found dead in their home in Kohat Enclave. Ravi is accused of being a co-conspirator. The main suspect, who was hired as a night attendant just days before the crime, has not yet been caught. Police say they have important leads on his location and expect to arrest him soon. In a separate incident, police arrested two suspects involved in a robbery that occurred on Monday in Chandni Chowk. They recovered ₹80 lakh that had been stolen from a trader. Law enforcement reviewed footage from nearly 500 CCTV cameras in the area and used facial recognition software to identify the main suspect, 21-year-old Mohd. Ali. He then helped police identify another suspect, 19-year-old Samir. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the opposition party in Delhi, criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what they see as rising crime rates in the city. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed the BJP's "double-engine" government has failed to keep people safe. In response, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor praised the police for quickly solving the robbery case.
