Delhi proposes portal for tracking CAG report actions
The Accountant General is urging the Delhi government to create an online portal. This portal would help monitor action taken notes from departments on Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. These reports are discussed in the Assembly and departments must submit their responses within three months. Currently, many departments are late in submitting these notes. The Accountant General's office has expressed concern about this issue and has suggested a web-based monitoring system. This system would be similar to one already used for other auditing tasks. The web portal would streamline the process and reduce delays. It would also support the Indian government's "Digital India" initiative by promoting a paperless approach. The National Informatics Centre has offered to adapt their existing system for Delhi's needs. The Accountant General recently met with the Delhi Assembly Speaker to discuss this proposal. The goal is to ensure timely submissions and improve oversight of the reports. Manually tracking these submissions is time-consuming and inefficient, which is why an online solution is seen as crucial.
