The Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi has announced new four-digit helplines for residents. The helpline 1908 will handle PWD complaints, while 1916 will serve the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). This change follows complaints that officials could not remember the old 10-digit number. Water Minister Parvesh Verma criticized the previous system, saying it was too complicated and may have discouraged complaints. Verma noted that most waterlogging complaints come during the monsoon season. To improve service, he emphasized the importance of these new, shorter helplines. He also visited various assembly constituencies to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects, such as road repairs and drain cleaning. During his visit to Trinagar, Verma addressed issues with an assistant engineer who was accused of being drunk at work. He stressed the need for officials to engage directly with the community rather than just working from their offices. Verma also participated in cleaning campaigns at the Sahibi river and Najafgarh drain, showing his commitment to addressing local problems. Additionally, he inaugurated a new PWD service road in Multan Nagar and Paschim Vihar and visited the slums of Meera Bagh and the Uttam Nagar-Najafgarh Road.
