Delhi schools may include traffic safety in curriculum
Delhi Traffic Police has requested the education department to include traffic rules in the curriculum of government schools. This initiative is part of a 100-day plan aimed at improving traffic safety in the city. Currently, the traffic police conduct awareness sessions for students, but violations, especially among juveniles, have increased significantly. In 2024, fines for underage driving rose to 442, up from 69 in 2021. While schools support the idea, there are concerns about adding road safety to an already full syllabus. Some educators suggest practical sessions and better training for teachers instead of theoretical lessons.
