Delhi's air quality index soars to hazardous 507 as PM2.5 levels spike
Delhi's air quality index (AQI) has reached a hazardous level of 507 on November 3, significantly worsening from 321 the previous day. PM2.5 levels are now over 65 times the World Health Organization's recommended limit. Weather stations across the city reported dangerous air quality, with residents expressing difficulty in breathing. The increase in pollution levels follows Diwali celebrations, which included firecracker use in various neighborhoods. Previously, Delhi's AQI was categorized as "very poor," but it has now escalated to the second-most polluted city globally. The Central Pollution Control Board warns that high PM2.5 levels can lead to serious health issues.
