Delhi's air quality remains very poor as fog lingers for second day
Delhi's air quality remains very poor for the fourth consecutive day, with an average air quality index (AQI) of 356 recorded on Wednesday morning. Calm winds and shallow fog have hindered the dispersion of pollutants, leading to visibility dropping to around 800 meters. The Early Warning System for Delhi predicts no significant improvement in air quality until Friday. At least four monitoring stations reported severe air quality levels, with readings of 444 and 421 at NSIT and Wazirpur, respectively. In response, Delhi's environment minister announced a campaign to combat open waste burning, deploying 588 teams across the city. The government is also providing heaters to night workers to reduce reliance on firewood for warmth.
