PM2.5 levels are now over 65 times higher than the World Health Organization's safe limit. Other cities, including Kolkata and Mumbai, also reported poor air quality. Kolkata's AQI was classified as 'poor' with readings around 210 to 288, while Mumbai recorded an AQI of 192. Air quality in northern India has deteriorated significantly post-Diwali, with many areas in Haryana and Punjab also showing poor AQI levels. Himachal Pradesh's average AQI rose to 140 this year, compared to 92 last year.
