Delivery man sues Portland after police dog bite
An Oregon man, Khalid Fasasi, is suing the city of Portland after he was bitten by a police dog while delivering packages in January. The incident happened in Clackamas County when Fasasi was working as a gig worker for Amazon Flex. Fasasi claims the dog, a German shepherd named Tex, was off-leash when he approached the home. He says the dog attacked him, knocking him to the ground. Despite his attempts to stop the dog, it continued to bite him until it was pulled away by someone else. As a result of the attack, Fasasi suffered a puncture wound on his arm and strained muscles in his neck and back. His medical bills totaled nearly $18,000. He filed a lawsuit on March 7, stating that the city was negligent in controlling the dog and failing to provide proper training for the officer in charge, Kameron Fender. Fasasi is seeking almost $118,000 in damages. The city has not commented on the lawsuit. This case comes after another incident where the city settled for $500,000 with a couple who were also bitten by a police dog in 2021.
