Delivery workers attack security over parking dispute in New Town
In Kolkata, a group of delivery workers from a quick-commerce company entered a housing complex in New Town and allegedly attacked security guards and staff over a parking dispute. This incident happened on Thursday around 11:30 am, according to residents. The conflict started when a delivery worker named Saiful Mondal was asked to park his scooter in the designated area instead of blocking the entrance to a residential tower. He left but returned shortly after with a large group, estimated to be between 50 and 70 people. CCTV footage reportedly shows these individuals entering through a gate and confronting the security staff. One guard, Md Harun, was allegedly assaulted, and the attackers threatened anyone who tried to help. This violent scene lasted several minutes until other residents intervened. The Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) has filed a complaint with the Eco Park police station. They provided the CCTV evidence and requested that the complaint be treated as a First Information Report (FIR). Police confirmed they are investigating the incident, which involves charges of criminal trespass and assault. There has been no arrest made so far. Residents expressed frustration over the lack of immediate police action after their initial complaint.
