Democrat accuses Republican chair of failing to act on Matt Gaetz report

The top Democrat on the House Ethics Committee, Rep. Susan Wild, accused Republican Chairman Rep. Michael Guest of "betraying the process" after a meeting failed to decide on releasing a report about former Congressman Matt Gaetz's alleged misconduct. Wild stated that Guest misrepresented the committee's discussions, claiming there was no consensus to release the report. The committee, evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, did not reach an agreement during the meeting. The committee plans to reconvene on December 5 to further discuss the report. Meanwhile, some Senate Republicans have suggested they may subpoena the House panel if the report is not shared.
