Democratic ally expresses disappointment over white women's support for Trump in election results
A Democratic ally of President Biden and Vice President Harris expressed disappointment over white women's support for President-elect Trump, who received 53% of their votes. Melanie L. Campbell noted a "feeling of betrayal" among those who expected solidarity among women voters. Campbell, who leads the Power of the Ballot Action Fund, highlighted the emergence of supportive groups for Harris but acknowledged that many white women did not vote for her. She stated that while Harris ran a strong campaign, the results reflect ongoing issues of racism and sexism. Despite the setbacks, Campbell pointed out that Black women achieved victories in other races. She emphasized that the country still faces challenges in accepting women, particularly women of color, in top leadership roles.
