Democratic lawmakers back Trump's government efficiency initiative to cut federal waste
Democratic lawmakers are showing support for Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at reducing waste in the federal budget. Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz is the first Democrat to join the bipartisan DOGE Caucus. Moskowitz has called for a review of the Department of Homeland Security's budget and suggested making the Secret Service and FEMA independent agencies. California Rep. Ro Khanna also supports DOGE, particularly in addressing waste in the Department of Defense's budget. The DOGE Caucus, led by Republican lawmakers, lacks Democratic members in the Senate. The group plans to work with the White House Office of Management and Budget to recommend cost-cutting measures.
