Denise Nurse balances television career with family life
Denise Nurse is a well-known presenter on BBC One’s "Escape to the Country." After taking a break for nearly nine years to focus on her family, she returned to the show in 2022. In addition to her work on "Escape to the Country," Denise has reported the weather for Sky News and has been a travel presenter. Before her television career, Denise was a successful solicitor. She became interested in law at a young age and enjoyed subjects like English and history. Her transition into broadcasting began in 2003 when she won the Sky Talent competition, leading to her work as an in-house lawyer at Sky. Denise's career changed when she was approached to present the weather on Sky News. Although she was hesitant to leave her law career, she took the leap and began her new path in broadcasting. Her experience led her to host programs on travel, law, and property. In 2007, she co-founded Halebury, a flexible law firm, and sold it in 2018. Outside of her professional life, Denise is active in her community. She co-founded Black Founders Hub, which supports Black entrepreneurs, and runs Support SEND Kids to help children with special educational needs. Denise married in Barbados in 2015 and has one son and two stepchildren. She tends to keep her family life private but occasionally shares snapshots on social media. In 2016, she spoke about stepping back from presenting to prioritize her family. Now, she has returned to the spotlight with her role on "Escape to the Country," which airs weekdays at 3 PM on BBC One and iPlayer.
