DepEd launches P1.9B program for remote school digital tools
The Department of Education (DepEd) has launched a P1.9 billion Computerization Program to enhance digital learning in remote schools. This initiative aims to replace handwritten materials with technology, providing 64,816 laptops and smart TVs across 16 regions. The program addresses the 69.3% of schools lacking sufficient devices for students. It includes one million Google Education Plus accounts for teachers, offering access to tools like Google Classroom and Khan Academy to improve lesson planning and student engagement. Despite budget cuts for 2025, DepEd is committed to delivering these devices by the second half of the year, aiming to modernize education in underserved areas.
