DepEd plans new classrooms through public-private partnerships in the Philippines
The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines is focusing on building new classrooms to address a backlog. Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced plans to use public-private partnerships (PPPs) for large-scale projects, including the construction of 1,000 classrooms. Angara emphasized the importance of community involvement in the Adopt-A-School Program, which offers tax benefits to companies that support schools. He encouraged businesses to take advantage of these incentives when donating to education. Additionally, DepEd is prioritizing digital technology to improve learning and prepare for upcoming international assessments. Angara called for enhanced preparations, including practice tests, to develop students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
