DeSantis suggests Congress limit federal court jurisdiction
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed a new approach to address what he views as judicial obstacles to former President Donald Trump’s agenda. He suggested that Congress could remove the federal courts' authority to handle certain cases. In a recent post on social media, DeSantis criticized the judges who he believes are blocking Trump’s policies. He stated that it seems predictable that judges would resist Trump's agenda. He asked why Congress has not introduced any jurisdiction-stripping bills at the start of the session. When questioned about the lack of support in the Senate, DeSantis suggested linking such measures to important legislation that must be passed. This idea emerged as he responded to comments from Representative Chip Roy about a need for legislative action regarding the courts. Meanwhile, Trump has voiced frustration with a judge, calling for their impeachment. He criticized Judge James E. Boasberg for what he sees as unfair rulings. In turn, Texas Representative Brandon Gill introduced articles of impeachment against this judge. Chief Justice John Roberts has responded to calls for impeachment. He pointed out that disagreement with judicial decisions does not warrant such extreme measures and that the appellate review process should be followed.
