Dhoni nearing CSK runs record before IPL 2025

MS Dhoni is set to return to the field for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. He will play his first match in over ten months on March 23 against the Mumbai Indians. Dhoni, who is 43 years old, was retained by CSK for Rs 4 crore before the IPL mega auction. In his career with CSK, Dhoni has scored 4,669 runs in 234 matches. He is just 19 runs away from becoming the leading run scorer for the team, surpassing Suresh Raina, who holds the record with 4,687 runs from 176 matches. This could be a historic moment for Dhoni and the franchise. Dhoni has led CSK to five IPL titles and is the most capped player in the league’s history. Last year, he played 14 matches, scoring 161 runs and hitting 14 sixes. In this season of IPL, if he scores at least 286 runs, he will also become the fifth highest run scorer in IPL history, surpassing Raina's total of 5,528 runs. Dhoni has a total of 5,243 runs in 264 IPL matches when including his time with Rising Pune Supergiants.
