DHS identifies over 600 migrants in the U.S. with ties to Venezuelan gang
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified over 600 migrants in the U.S. with possible ties to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. About 100 of these individuals are confirmed gang members recommended for an FBI watchlist. DHS began tracking these migrants after a rise in gang-related crime in U.S. cities. The gang is linked to serious offenses, including sex trafficking and violent attacks. More than 100 people associated with Tren de Aragua have been arrested since October 2022. The exact number of gang members in the U.S. is unclear due to limited information from Venezuela. Many identified migrants are not in custody, complicating efforts to monitor their activities.
