DHS raids Columbia University dorms after activist's arrest
The Department of Homeland Security raided two dorm rooms at Columbia University on Thursday night, following the arrest of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil. No students were arrested or detained during the operation. Interim President Katrina Armstrong informed the university community about the raid, emphasizing that law enforcement must have a judicial warrant to enter non-public areas. She stated that this requirement was met during the DHS visit. The raid occurred after Khalil's arrest on March 8. He is a green card-holder accused of leading activities linked to Hamas but has not been charged with any crime. Columbia recently faced pressure from the Trump administration regarding disciplinary actions against protesters.
