DHS searches Columbia University students’ rooms, no arrests
Agents from the Department of Homeland Security searched the rooms of two Columbia University students on Thursday night. No arrests were made, and no items were taken. The searches were authorized by judicial warrants. Columbia's interim president expressed concern over the searches, which follow recent federal actions against students involved in pro-Palestinian protests. The Trump administration has also revoked a visa for a doctoral student and arrested another for visa violations. Additionally, the Trump administration sent a letter to Columbia outlining demands for reinstating $400 million in federal funding. These include changes to the university's disciplinary processes and oversight of certain academic departments.
