The Franklin Fire has destroyed nearby properties, including a home in Malibu Canyon. Van Dyke's house was spared, while the Serra Retreat, a local Catholic center, suffered damage. Other celebrities, including Cher and Mark Hamill, have also evacuated or gone into lockdown. Community members are assisting firefighters to protect homes from further damage.
