Digi Seva expansion at PGIMER faces significant delays

Chandigarh: A month after the launch of the Digi Seva system at PGIMER, patients are facing difficulties using the service. The system was successfully introduced in the Liver Clinic earlier this year, prompting PGIMER to expand it to the skin, orthopaedics, and endocrinology departments. Since its launch on February 15, 2025, the Digi Seva system was intended to streamline patient services, offering features like online appointment booking and priority consultations. It aims to reduce waiting times and improve patient care. However, patients in the new departments report that they are unable to use these benefits. Indu, a patient from Daddumajra waiting for her orthopaedic consultation, was unaware of the Digi Seva system. She described her experience, saying she waited two hours just to get her registration card and faced confusion during the consultation process. Other patients echoed her concerns about the lack of separate queues and rooms for follow-up patients. The system was first tested at the Liver Clinic, where it registered about 450 patients in its first month. PGIMER officials acknowledge that while the Liver Clinic is functioning smoothly, the other departments are still working on implementing the system. They cited technical challenges that need to be resolved.
