Director explains casting choices for "YADANG: The Snitch."
The director of the movie "YADANG: The Snitch" has discussed the reasons behind the film's impressive cast. The movie centers around an informant in South Korea's drug trade, a prosecutor aspiring for success, and a detective determined to fight drug crime. Their conflicting goals lead to intense drama. Director Hwang Byeong Guk highlighted Kang Ha Neul’s role as Lee Kang Soo, the informant. He praised Kang for his ability to show a mix of kindness, humor, and a darker side. Hwang believes this complexity is crucial for the character. Yoo Hae Jin plays Gu Kwan Hee, who recruits Lee Kang Soo as an informant. The director noted Yoo's skill in transforming an ordinary character into something special, making him a key part of the film. Park Hae Joon portrays Oh Sang Jae, a detective. Hwang connected with him immediately while he was filming another project, impressed by his talent and dynamic presence. Ryu Kyung Soo, who plays Cho Hoon, a member of elite society, was approached with a handwritten letter about the character's lack of compassion. This unique approach highlighted the character's complexity. Finally, Chae Won Bin was selected after auditioning about 100 actors. She will bring a fresh perspective to Um Soo Jin, a fallen actress. "YADANG: The Snitch" is set to release in theaters on April 23.
