Disney district may support Orlando transit expansion study
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is planning to support a major transit expansion in Orlando. On March 28, the district's board will discuss approving $500,000 for a study related to a shared rail corridor. This corridor will serve both the SunRail commuter train and the Brightline intercity train. The total cost of the study is $6 million. So far, key funding has already been secured. The Florida Department of Transportation and Universal Destinations & Experiences each committed $2 million. Additionally, the city of Orlando, Seminole County, and Osceola County each pledged $500,000. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is responsible for over 25,000 acres of land in Orange and Osceola counties. This area includes Walt Disney World Resort.
