Disney faces lawsuit over Snow White discrimination claims
Disney is facing a discrimination lawsuit related to its live-action remake of Snow White. A group of actors known as "little people" plans to file a class action lawsuit. They are upset because Disney replaced them with animated characters in the £215 million film. A prominent lawyer is set to represent the group. Actress Ali Chapman, who is 3 feet 8 inches tall, highlighted that the film could have featured seven talented little actors. She called the decision to use cartoon figures an insult. This lawsuit adds to Disney's recent issues. Last month, Disney was accused of discrimination against disabled visitors at its theme parks. The complaint said the company requires visitors to share medical information, which could be overheard by others. Disney has denied this claim, stating it aims to offer a great experience for all guests. The new Snow White film has also faced public controversy. Rachel Zegler, who plays Snow White, has made statements about her character's story that upset some fans. Additionally, there have been reported disagreements between Zegler and her co-star Gal Gadot over political issues related to the Gaza conflict. Despite being released last week, the film earned $16 million at the US box office. Projections suggest it could reach around $45 million this weekend. This is considered a disappointing performance compared to Disney’s 2023 Little Mermaid, which made $95 million during its opening. Critics have not reacted well, and a Disney executive has described the film as a disaster.
