Sajith Sivanandan, head of Disney's Hotstar in India, has resigned following the company's merger with Reliance's media assets. This merger, valued at $8.5 billion, aims to create India's largest entertainment company. The resignation comes after a decision to stream all live sports, including the Indian Premier League, on Hotstar instead of Reliance's JioCinema. Discussions are ongoing about whether JioCinema will remain a separate app. Disney and Reliance now control over 100 TV channels and two streaming platforms, competing with Sony, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Sivanandan had been with Hotstar for over two years, previously working at Google.
