Dobot's Atom robot chef demonstrates cooking skills
Chinese tech company Dobot has revealed its first humanoid robot, Atom, that is designed to cook meals. In a recent YouTube video, Atom is seen preparing breakfast. The robot begins by toasting bread, then skillfully handles lettuce and cherries. After toasting the bread, Atom arranges the food on a plate. It adds lettuce, cherries, and sausage, then finishes off the dish by pouring honey on the toast. To top it all, Atom smiles at the camera. Dobot, founded in 2015, is known for making robotic arms for various uses, including industry and education. Atom is their entry into the growing humanoid robot market. The robot has 28 degrees of freedom, allowing it to perform precise movements, which is important for tasks like cooking. Unlike many other humanoid robots, Atom has straight knees, making it more energy efficient and able to navigate different terrains. It is equipped with advanced computing capabilities that help it adapt to its surroundings. While Dobot has not provided specific details about Atom’s features or its intended markets, the cooking demonstration hints at the potential for use in home kitchens. The tech industry is increasingly interested in robots, with companies like NVIDIA also working on AI models for humanoid machines.
