Doctor arrested for allegedly pushing wife off cliff
A 46-year-old doctor, Gerhardt Konig, has been arrested in Hawaii for allegedly trying to murder his wife, Arielle Konig, who is 36 years old. The incident occurred on Monday at Pali Lookout in Oahu, where it is reported that he pushed her off a trail and assaulted her with a rock. Arielle sustained serious head and facial injuries and is currently in critical condition. According to police, she described the attack, saying her husband used closed fists and an object against her. Following the alleged assault, Gerhardt fled but was later located near the hiking trail after a brief manhunt. The couple lives in Maui in a $1.5 million home and were visiting Oahu at the time. Gerhardt Konig, who works as an anesthesiologist, has been suspended from his job by Maui Health. The organization stated they are committed to patient safety and are investigating the allegations. Before his current position, Konig was an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Engineering.
