Doctor charged with raping clinic assistant in Kuala Lumpur

A doctor in Kuala Lumpur has been charged with raping his clinic assistant. The 34-year-old doctor, Dr. Rafiuddin Hamidon, faces serious allegations after the incident reportedly occurred in a storage room at his clinic in Pantai Dalam. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, claims she was raped by Dr. Rafiuddin on March 15 between 4am and 5am. He is also accused of another sexual offense under the law. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and face corporal punishment. The court set his bail at RM18,000, requiring him to have one surety and to surrender his passport. During the proceedings, Dr. Rafiuddin's lawyer mentioned that he supports a family that includes his wife and three children, one of whom is a newborn. The judge scheduled the next court hearing for April 23 to discuss the case further.
