Doctors in Andhra Pradesh rejecting promotions due to pressure
The Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, expressed concern over a significant number of doctors declining promotions. Recently, 32% of eligible associate professors and over half of eligible civil surgeons rejected offers for advancement. Doctors attribute their refusals to high work pressure, unrealistic expectations, and verbal abuse. They also cite a lack of transparency in transfer processes and insufficient residential facilities as reasons for their reluctance to accept promotions. The Government Doctors’ Association stated that addressing these issues could encourage more doctors to accept promotions. They plan to meet with the Health Minister next week to discuss their concerns.
