Dog finds murder victim, leads to wife's arrest

In Sahiwal, a pet dog helped police uncover the murder of Umer Hayat, an agricultural laborer. The dog was digging in a pile of burnt garbage when it unearthed Umer's feet. This discovery led villagers to alert the police about a possible crime. Umer's wife, Shamim, and her brother, Fida Hussain, were identified as suspects in the case. They allegedly murdered Umer and attempted to hide his body by burning it in a garbage heap. Police arrested both suspects on March 24 and they are now facing charges. The murder occurred between February 13 and 14 in the village of 105/12-L. Police initially registered a case against unknown persons on February 18 after the remains were discovered. Efforts to identify the body were unsuccessful at first. Umer had been working at a local farm with his wife and four children for two years. Just days before the body was found, the farm owner mentioned that Umer's family had left his employment. Umer's disappearance went unreported, raising suspicions. After further investigation, it was revealed that Shamim had left the farmhouse on February 12 with her children but not with Umer. The police also discovered both Umer and Shamim had affairs. Shamim eventually admitted that they killed Umer after a confrontation regarding her affair. The couple disfigured Umer's face to hide his identity before placing his body in the garbage and setting it on fire. The case against Shamim and Fida is now ready for trial.
