Dog shot after attacking deputy in Kalamazoo County
A dog was shot and killed after it attacked a Kalamazoo County deputy during a traffic stop on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in Comstock Township. The deputy stopped a vehicle towing a large dump trailer because it had a license plate from a stolen car. When the deputy approached the driver, a dog inside the vehicle became aggressive. The dog jumped out and bit the deputy's uniform and vest. Fortunately, the deputy was not hurt in the attack, and no one else at the scene was injured. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on unrelated charges and taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail. Police plan to submit charges related to the stolen property, the dog attack, and the driver's suspended license to the county prosecutor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
