DOGE denied access to U.S. Institute of Peace
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) attempted to access the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) but was turned away. USIP's counsel informed DOGE that it is a private, independent agency, not part of the executive branch. DOGE has been working to reduce federal agency budgets and staff since January. It has faced criticism for accessing sensitive information and for questionable accounting practices regarding its claimed savings. USIP, founded in 1984, focuses on preventing conflicts and promoting peace. It operates with a nonpartisan board and collaborates with the Department of Defense.
