DOGE removes 3.26 million deceased from Social Security
Elon Musk has praised his new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for cleaning up the U.S. Social Security database. This effort revealed that the database contained millions of entries for individuals over the age of 120, some listed as being even older. Recently, DOGE has marked about 3.2 million of these impossibly-aged individuals as deceased. Many of them were still appearing as eligible for benefits. The team continues to work on clearing additional entries still listed as living. During a podcast interview, Musk discussed the issue of waste in government spending. He suggested that most of the problems identified by his team are due to inefficient use of taxpayer dollars rather than outright fraud. He indicated that much of the waste was caused by contracts that were not properly managed. Musk also noted that significant cuts have been made under his leadership, including reductions in government contracts and the elimination of certain federal jobs. He plans to continue these efforts to reduce waste and improve efficiency in government operations.
