Ann Arbor's Pittsfield Village neighborhood is set to undergo significant improvements. A $19 million infrastructure project will focus on upgrading streets, sidewalks, and utilities over the next two years. The City Council approved the project on March 17 with a unanimous vote. Construction is expected to start in April and will continue until November 2026. The projects aim to resurface nearly three miles of streets and create a bike corridor on Pittsfield Boulevard for residents of all ages and abilities. Speed-management measures will also be introduced along the boulevard. These measures include speed tables and curb bump-outs to enhance safety. The project will fill sidewalk gaps on Whitewood Street and Fernwood/Edgewood as well. Additionally, the project will upgrade water and sewer systems. This includes installing new water meters and relocating some sewer pipes for better stormwater management. New stormwater pipes and drains will also be installed to help reduce flooding and improve fire protection. Overall, these improvements aim to enhance infrastructure, minimize flooding, and ensure reliable water service for residents.
