$357 million in shares unlocked for trading today
Today, the lock-in period for shares from eight companies has ended. This allows nearly 20 crore shares, worth around $357 million, to be traded freely. These companies include Northern Arc Capital, Sahmi Hotels, Mamata Machinery, and DAM Capital Advisors. The expiration of these lock-ins means that shareholders can sell their stocks. However, not all shares will be sold immediately. Many are held by company promoters and other insiders who may choose to keep their shares. In the next few weeks, more companies will have their lock-ins expire. Between February 28 and April 30, a total of 64 companies will unlock shares worth about $26 billion. Specific companies that are seeing shares unlocked today include Quality Power Electrical and Sanathan Textiles. Quality Power has 5 million shares available, while Sanathan Textiles has 3 million. Other companies like Mamata Machinery and DAM Capital Advisors also have shares entering the market. Sahmi Hotels and Northern Arc Capital have the largest number of shares unlocked today. Sahmi Hotels has 34 million shares released, accounting for 16% of its total equity. Northern Arc has an even larger share, with 99 million shares released, representing 61% of its equity.
