$50,000 Powerball ticket unclaimed in Warwick, Rhode Island
A $50,000 Powerball ticket remains unclaimed. Lottery officials are reminding players to check their tickets. The ticket was sold at a Season’s Corner Market in Warwick, Rhode Island. The lucky player matched four numbers plus the Powerball. They spent just $2 to win the prize, which is the second-highest non-jackpot prize. The odds of winning this prize were about 1 in 913,000. The winner missed the jackpot by just one number. In Rhode Island, winners have one year to claim their prizes. The ticket was purchased before the draw on March 15, so it won’t expire until the same date next year. In the latest draw, no one won the Powerball jackpot, which is now $416 million. However, two players in Colorado and Pennsylvania each matched five numbers, earning $1 million each. Additionally, 15 other players matched four numbers and the Powerball, winning $50,000. Three players used the Power Play option, which multiplied their winnings to $100,000. Lottery winnings are subject to state and federal taxes before players receive their money. Starting April 5, the price of Mega Millions tickets will increase from $2 to $5. This change is expected to improve odds and create larger jackpots.
