Dolphins may select offensive lineman or safety in draft
Mock drafts from ESPN and NFL Network suggest that the Miami Dolphins are considering either an offensive lineman or a safety for their first-round pick in April. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. now predicts that the Dolphins will choose Will Campbell, an offensive lineman from LSU, with the 13th pick. This pick was once seen as unlikely, as many thought Campbell would be picked earlier in the draft. However, his stock has fallen slightly after the NFL scouting combine. Meanwhile, Armand Membou from Missouri has gained popularity and was previously expected to be the Dolphins’ pick. Kiper mentions that Campbell is primarily a tackle but could start at guard to address the Dolphins' immediate needs. Membou and another prospect, Kelvin Banks from Texas, could also fill similar roles. In contrast, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah believes the Dolphins should focus on improving their secondary and has them selecting Malaki Starks, a safety from Georgia. Miami has shown interest in Starks, attending his pro day and the NFL combine. Jeremiah's draft predictions have Membou and Campbell going in the top ten, which changes his previous suggestion of selecting Alabama’s Tyler Booker as the first true guard off the board. The Dolphins have a total of ten picks in the upcoming draft, including the 13th overall and the 48th pick in the second round.
