Dominic Solanke praises Virgil van Dijk's skills

Former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has praised Virgil van Dijk, calling him the toughest defender he has ever faced. Solanke played for Liverpool from 2017 to 2019 before moving to Bournemouth and later to Tottenham. In an interview with Sky Sports, Solanke highlighted van Dijk's skills. He described the Dutch defender as powerful, quick, and able to read the game well. Solanke said, "He’s the complete defender." Solanke has faced van Dijk ten times since leaving Liverpool, with only one goal scored against him. That goal came in December during a match where Tottenham beat Liverpool 6-3. When asked if he believes van Dijk is currently the best centre-back in the world, Solanke nodded in agreement. The two players may meet again on April 27 when Liverpool hosts Tottenham at Anfield in the Premier League.
