"Stepchild" is part of Kirke’s upcoming album, "The Most Familiar Star," her first in eight years. The album explores themes of loss, renewal, and personal growth. It includes her experiences with trauma, particularly in the song "Secret Growing," which addresses past abuse. Expecting twins has been a surprise for Kirke. She describes the experience as both shocking and transformative. Kirke is excited for the new chapter ahead and believes her songs will resonate with many on their parenting journeys. The album will be released on April 18.
