Doranda roadside market project in Ranchi stalled
The roadside market project planned for Doranda in Ranchi is still on hold. Commuters face heavy traffic as vegetable vendors occupy the main road. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) announced the project in January, aiming to create a modern vendor complex through a public-private partnership, but it has not yet started. RMC administrator Sandeep Singh inspected the proposed site on January 16. However, two months later, vendors are still selling from the roadside, making traffic conditions worse. Ramesh Yadav, a local vendor, expressed disappointment, saying they were promised a proper market but have seen no progress. Another vendor, Sunita Devi, voiced similar frustrations about the government's lack of action. The project was intended to ease traffic and highlight Jharkhand's cultural heritage with themed architecture. It also aimed to get private investment while vendors would help maintain the stalls. The delay is frustrating for both vendors and commuters alike. Anil Kumar, a daily traveler, noted that traffic jams have become unbearable and called for quicker action from authorities. Additional Administrator Sanjay Kumar addressed the delay, stating that the detailed project report is still being prepared. He mentioned that a vendor survey will take about a month after the report is complete. For now, Doranda remains stuck, with plans for the market existing only on paper.
