Dr. Oz nominated to lead Medicare and Medicaid under Trump administration
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, overseeing health insurance programs for millions of Americans. If confirmed, Oz will manage Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. Oz, a former TV host and heart surgeon, has previously supported Trump and expressed backing for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as head of the Department of Health and Human Services. His nomination follows a failed Senate run in 2022. Trump also selected Howard Lutnick, a Wall Street executive, to head the Commerce Department. Lutnick will focus on tariffs and trade policies, a key part of Trump's economic agenda.
